I'm thinking about purchasing the hoya IR filter for my Nikon D3100 (which accepts IR-filters),
but if I install the filter on my cam, do I get the same result like you or did you change any channels etc?

You should be able to get the same results but the photo needs to be postprocessed. I changed red and blue channels.
